"The Lady and Death" last night was the Goya for best short animation. And the competition was stiff. VERY hard. He was nominated "Alma" , Rodrigo Blaas, Pixar animator, and art direction of my colleague Alfonso Blaas . We also had to face "Margarita " of Underworld Studio and " Tachan " of Rafael Cano "Rafiki" , Carlos Olmo and Miguel Angel Bellot . All short magnificent showing the high quality of animation in Spain. I am proud to have competed the same year as them, really. Rarely have I seen a Goya as odds like this and actually saw our chances very black. Congratulations to everyone that you deserve it as much as us. Really.
And below also leave a picture of the short animation team that met on a nomination to the Oscars:
"The Lady and the Reaper" yesterday with WAS Awarded the Goya to the Best Animated Shortfilm. And Our Competitors Were tough. Really tough. "Alma" WAS Nominated too, Directed by Rodrigo Blaas (animator at Pixar) and with art direction by my friend Alfonso Blaas. We Also Had to face "Margarita" , by Underworld Studio , and "Tachaan" , by Rafael "Rafiki" Cano , Carlos Olmo and Miguel Angel Bellot. All of them awesome shortfilms that show the great quality that animation is achieving in Spain. I'm really proud of having competed the same year they did. I really mean it. Very few times I've seen such a challenged Goya ceremony. I saw our possibilities very low, honestly. Congratulations for all of them, because they all deserve this award as much as we do.
